Meet the Committee

Our Society

The Melbourne University Environmental Engineers’ Society was established in 2015 as an UMSU affiliated society. MUEES represents the interests of those studying or planning to study Environmental Engineering here at The University of Melbourne. We hope to connect current students with other students, academics, and professionals in the industry. We do this through hosting events such as networking nights, games night, and study sessions.

Our Aim

  1. To provide grounds for graduate students studying environmental engineering to meet like-minded people in a social environment.
  2. To provide a network base for younger undergraduate students who are considering the course to gain an insight.
  3. To allow all students to interact with industry representatives.
  4. To promote principles of sustainability through participating in community programs in affiliation with not-for-profit organisations.
  5. To provide additional academic assistance to new students in the course.

About Us

The MUEES committee is made up of a passionate group of students who want to support future environmental engineers! We are either interested in or pursuing a degree in the environmental engineering field and are keen to support others doing the same. We are made up of both undergraduate and masters students who are happy to help at any point in your studies.

President – Navindu De Silva

Hello! I am Nav, and I am in my penultimate year of the Master of Environmental Engineering. This is my second year with MUEES, and I am excited to lead the society during and after a series of lockdowns. It has certainly been a challenging time for all of us, and my committee and I aim to do our best to create a community of close-knit environmental engineering students at Unimelb. We hope to strengthen our connections with academia and industry, while also ensuring that the social lives of our student community is well looked after. Personally, I am passionate about solving the complex issues within environmental contamination, especially those due to emerging contaminants. Outside of study and work, I enjoy travelling and hope to travel and work in different parts of the world.
